Mutton dressed as lamb

By jpenston | July 10, 2007 | Print This Post Print This Post

I hope you like the new look, not that RSS readers will notice much difference…

The look is a tribute to Apple and the iPhone. As I read about their launch it struck me how important their visuals are in their products and if it’s good enough for them, it’s good enough for me. I was going to write a post about how we should all try and take something from that product’s launch, but instead decided to put actions ahead of words. The result was that I developed my own version of the touch-screen interface which you can see in the new left-hand nav bar.

You can now also see what I look like. Is this a good thing? Probably not, but hopefully it humanises an otherwise faceless experience. Don’t worry, this part is not touch-screen enabled…

This was not all one big rebranding exercise though. The “business objective” was to create a better index of the content that is published here. This is the 50th post and although there have certainly been ones that have added little or nothing, some deserve better than to be discarded like yesterday’s newspaper. Hopefully now, these are easier to find.
