To Blog or Not To Blog…

So, what’s the difference between a blog and a web site?
As I’m really not 100% sure, I am going to give blogging a go - it can’t hurt to try, can it? The complicating factor for me at least, is that I already publish my opinions via the Free Research section of my web site.
So what am I going to put on this blog that compliments rather than intrudes on the work I do there?
The framework I am going to start with says something like “the blog will be unsubstantiated opinions, while the research section will only include pieces based on hard numbers that I have analysed in detail.”
